It's official! If you are a member of the Conservative Party of Canada in the Bow River Riding, you will have received the Official Nomination Notice, with details on two forums (in Strathmore and Brooks) and voting times and places (Strathmore, Vulcan, Taber, and Brooks).

I am particularly proud to put my name forward in this contest since I have had the honour and privilege to have been the founding President of this riding and with the right leadership I believe it will become one of the Nation's strongest in years to come.

For those who don’t know me, my name is Rolly (Roland) Ashdown and I am originally from Lucky Lake Saskatchewan. I have been in Alberta since 1977 with a short stint in New Brunswick in the mid 80’s. I am currently a Municipal Councillor with Rocky View County. In my last term, I was the Reeve of Rocky View, a position that is appointed on an annual basis by Council. I was favoured with that appointment every year, including my first year as an elected representative.

Previous to the formation of the Bow River Riding, I had the pleasure to be on the board with Kevin Sorenson’s Crowfoot Riding, a portion of which now forms our Northern area including the Town of Chestermere, part of Kneehill County and Rocky View County, all of Wheatland County and the many jurisdictions within those Counties like the Town of Strathmore and many more. In the last short while I have had the opportunity to travel the entire Riding, including the Town of Vulcan and Vulcan County who came to us from the MacLeod Riding and the County of Newell and the MD of Taber including places like Taber, Brooks and Bassano who were previously in the Medicine Hat Riding. I was impressed with the many “welcome to…” signs in my travels so I started taking pictures of them in the last while, you can see many of them in the Gallery.

I will continue to travel throughout the Bow River Riding, so if you would like to meet, you can either come out to one of the two forums or contact me directly and we can make some arrangements.

Please feel free to offer any advice or questions you may have. You are the reason for doing this.

Best Regards,
Rolly Ashdown
